Information refers to any personal, medical, usage, and/or data information collected by way of website use, data submission, purchases, services, or in-store visits. For the purposes of this privacy policy and agreement information and data may be used interchangeably and is not meant to designate by the method of collection the said information or data. We are the sole owners of the information collected. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order, complete an order.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email, phone, or text. We may contact you in regards of orders, questions, services, specials, new products or services, discuss your personal eye or visual health, or changes to this privacy policy.

We will not share any information without your approval. Examples of sharing approved information would include but not limited to the following; sending medical records to referred medical provider or primary care provider, providing information to third party for reimbursement of goods or services provided, discussion of medical codes and procedures to health savings administrators for purposes of payment.

Your Access to and Control Over Information 
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website:

  • See what information we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any information we have about you.
  • Have us legally delete any information we have about you. State and federals laws prohibit the deleting of any personal medical information we have collected for a period of six years.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Visual & Eye Health Information

You may at any time request and electronic or paper copy of your medical record and other health information we have about your. We will provide a copy or summary of this information within 30 days of your request. A $25 service fee will apply for requested records over five pages. You will be responsible for any postage fees for the requested information.

If you have given someone medical power of attorney or if someone is your legal guardian, that person can exercise your rights and make choices about your health information.  We will make sure the person has this authority and can act for you before we take any action.

Services & Orders 
We request information from you on our order form. To buy from us, you must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we'll use this information to contact you.  We will also request medical information to provide appropriate eye and visual health services. This information is required and will be stored as part as your medical record with The Optical. Co.

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. This technology is provided through vendors and websites that offer these services to The Optical. Co and not managed by The Optical. Co. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the Web page. If you do not see the secured "https" it is not recommended that you submit any information.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. No personal information is stored on a local computer or drive.
